ABOUT DAANA

Deccan Alumni Association of North America (DAANA) was founded in 2016 by a group of Indian-American physicians from Deccan College of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, India. DAANA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the state of Virginia. There are several hundred physicians and surgeons from DCMS settled in USA and Canada. There are several hundred more doctors from the medical school settled across the globe in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and other countries.

DAANA was started in an effort to connect all DCMS alumni settled abroad and to bring them on one unified platform. Our mission statement is “to foster collaborative relationships between alumni of  Deccan College of  Medical Sciences through educational and cultural programs and to help the underprivileged through philanthropic activities.”

DAANA is governed by a Board of Directors and has various other committee chairs and members who help carry out all its projects in the US and abroad. The physicians who volunteer for DAANA’s educational, medical and humanitarian projects are spread across the US and Canada and many of them also serve on boards of other medical associations and non-profit organizations.

DAANA organizes a biennial global reunion that usually attracts more than 500 physicians of various specialties from US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Middle East and India. The first global reunion was held in Dallas, TX (2016), the second one was held in Chicago, IL (2018). The reunion planned for Los Angeles, CA in 2020 had to be cancelled due to COVID pandemic. The third one was held in Orlando, FL (2022). The next global reunion is planned for Summer of 2024 in Chicago, IL.
