On the night of 23 February 2020, a series of violent incidents began in the Jaffrabad area of North East Delhi in which 46 people were killed and more than 200 people were injured. The violence spread to other areas and the official death toll most likely underestimates the true number of people killed and injured.

While both Hindus and Muslims were affected by the violence, Muslims were disproportionately targeted by organized mobs and many lost their lives and suffered serious injuries as well as loss of property.

The Indian Central Government and Delhi police have been heavily criticized for their inaction and in some instances for their complicity.

We have partnered with IMRC, USA  and Sahayata Trust, India to offer medical and humanitarian relief to those affected and displaced by this violence.
